Listen to the live interview below or HERE. It was aired on June 30th, 2015.
I’ve been doing the best I can to minime its occurance. But, I know it is inevitable it will hit hard at times considering the circumstances I am in of starting a business from scratch and financial stress it comes with it, career change, working alone, and other internal and external stressors. This has been a 180° degree change in my life. Road gets hard and lonely sometimes…yet, I know it’s my choice and I take full responsibility for it.
Times like this is when I need to apply my knowledge as a health and fitness coach and manage my hormone as naturally and quickly as possible…so, I called for a time out and hit the gym.
Fellow health enthusiasts, I cannot stress enough the power of exercise. And no, you do NOT need to spend a lot of time at the gym. Bursts of 1min, 2-3x help a ton. Breaking your 30 minutes into 3x 10 minute stops helps a lot as well.
This is how I won the battle today. Thankful for feeling in control again!

What’s life if we cannot live to its fullest? with or without money, it doesn’t matter. Stats show that people in poor countries are happier in general. They are content. We get carried away with so many ‘stuff’, and deep down, many of these activities don’t add value at all to our lives.
That it, a child’s adulthood battle against weight is highly correlated to lifestyle he/she experienced during those first 12 years.
Did you also know an average child consumes 32 tsp of added sugar a day vs recommended 4 tsp?
We will not be perfect but we can strive for doing and best our best. Focusing on activities we can control is a key step for success. Time we go to bed, time we have your last meal, foods that we eat throughout the day, how often we eat, types and frequency of physical activity we embrace, and more have a great impact on our ability to manage weight and burn fat.
My mission is to educate people on lifestyle choices and help them implement strategies that will allow them to reach their long term health goals!
I must admit that Dr. McGuff white board with detailed explanation of the cell metabolism changed my life years ago. I have watched this video a few times and for a long time, every time I ate foods high in sugar, the vision of the white board was all I saw.
It helped me increase my commitment to health and make better dietary decisions. The video led me to research exercise and impact on energy production, blood sugar, muscle growth, etc.
I highly recommend you watch this entire video and read his book ‘Body by Science’.
“About the speaker :
Doug McGuff, MD became interested in exercise at the age of 15 when he first read Arthur Jones’ Nautilus Training Bulletin No. 2. His interest in exercise and biology led him into a career in medicine. In 1989, he graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and went on to train in Emergency Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock where he served as Chief Resident.
From there, Dr. McGuff served as Faculty in the Wright State University Emergency Medicine Residency and was a staff Emergency Physician at Wright-Patterson AFB Hospital.
Throughout his career Dr. McGuff maintained his interest in high intensity exercise. Doug realized a lifelong dream when he opened Ultimate Exercise in November, 1997. Over the past 13 years Dr. McGuff and his instructors have continued to explore the limits of exercise through their personal training clients at Ultimate Exercise.
In addition to his work at Ultimate Exercise, Dr. McGuff is a partner with Blue Ridge Emergency Physicians, P.A. Dr. McGuff Lives in Seneca, South Carolina with his wife of 25-years, and their Children Eric and Madeline.”
Trained muscles use more glucose and use it more efficiently than untrained. That is one of many natural ways to manage your blood sugar, inflammation, and overall health.
Cheers to movement, physical activity, resistance training, strength training!
